What is Assistive Technology?

Assistive technology is technology used by individuals in order to perform functions that might otherwise be difficult or impossible. Assistive technology can include mobility devices, memory devices, and simple daily living.  For example, people with limited hand function may use a keyboard with large keys or a special mouse to operate a computer, people with low vision may use software that enlarges screen content.

 

What is Telecare?

Telecare is a service which provides people who are usually elderly or vulnerable with the support to help them lead independent lifestyles. Telecare equipment makes it possible for them to call for help and assistance when needed.   For example, epilepsy sensors.

 

What is Telehealth?

In the future, a Telecare service will be able to offer you more. Already there are schemes in some parts of the UK where hospitals and GPs use Telecare to monitor the wellbeing of patients without those patients having to travel to surgeries and hospitals for regular check ups. This form of Telecare is known as telehealth — and it is used to help ensure that people stay safe and well.
